operating systems

post-dream beds

installtion: arduino + audio

An invisible narrative of 'operating systems' in transient spaces, aimed to consider the relationship between the unseen labor of hotel housekeeping employees, maintaining private areas in public spaces, and unknown guests.
Based on visual documentation, research, and conversations with hotel housekeepers. NYC, NY; 2011–2019

Years ago, I worked as a house cleaner. Each week, while the owner was away, I would arrive to perform the exact same set of actions: a ritual of entering a space and shifting it back to its baseline, computational processes of turning chaos into order.
Reset.
